So you’ve decided that you want to go somewhere, anywhere for holiday but like most people these days have found yourself the victim of bouncing economics, where do you go? The answer is a lot closer than you think.
Cheap holidays are now defined as holidays that are fun, fabulous but inexpensive. Yes these are three words that should make the hair on the back of your neck stand up because usually they define a very bad vacation however today’s economy has redefined the phrase “cheap holiday” and travel agents are scrambling to prove it to today’s traveler.
The general rule of thumb for a cheap holiday is to stick to doing the basics yourself. Travel agents can take the foot work out of your planning but they in exchange can add in the guess work, as in how much will this cost me in the end. Spending some time on the internet looking up hotel rooms and travel arrangements can save you the cost of the agent. The next thing you should consider is what type of accommodations you will use. Most people just book a hotel room and call it good however there are many other options that can beat the price of a hotel room. Nightly rentals are one choice. A nightly rental is a home owned by someone who lives in the area you are visiting but is renting it out to visitors. It may cost a bit more in lodging however it will save on food, you can cook your own meals, and it can save on the cost of taking more bags on your trip, you can wash your clothes at no cost. Nightly rentals also take the worry out of whether or not you’ll enjoy a peaceful stay because you won’t be in the “room” next to another noisy visitor.
So this year when you plan your cheap holiday remember, make the plans yourself and consider a nightly rental, then you can spend your money on the real fun….entertainment.
